Jasmine rice and basmati rice have one thing in common: they are both very popular as a side dish for curries or in vegetable pans. In addition, both varieties belong to the long-grain rice. This means that the grains of basmati rice and jasmine rice have a length of about 6 to 8 mm. However, there are several differences between basmati rice and jasmine rice. Jasmine rice tastes more floral, while basmati rice has an earthy inherent flavor. In contrast to the somewhat sticky jasmine rice, basmati rice has a fluffy consistency. By the way, you can buy two types of basmati rice from us: brown, unhusked organic basmati rice and light organic basmati rice in the 5 kg package.
If you only have jasmine rice in your pantry, you can of course use it for sushi. However, the jasmine scented rice is not ideal because it has less starch compared to special sushi rice. For the perfect sticky rice for sushi and poké bowls, it's best to reach for our extra sticky organic sushi rice. For homemade rice pudding, we recommend our special organic rice pudding, which gets a super creamy consistency in the preparation of a spoon.
