Since cholecalciferol, the chemical name of the vitamin, can be produced by our skin thanks the UV-B radiation, when the warm rays of our sun are in short supply, it is not easy for our bodies to produce their daily requirement of vitamin D3. What is vitamin K, then? Well, this name includes vitamin K1 (phylloquinone), which is mainly found in plant foods, and K2 (menaquinone), which is created by bacteria. Our vitamin K2 is Menaquinone-7 all trans, whose name derives from its chemical structure, depending on which, the bioavailability of the vitamins also varies. The bioavailability indicates how quickly, how efficiently, and at which location the respective active ingredient can develop its effect and be absorbed: for example, MK-7 is better absorbed than MK-4 – although the mechanism of action is different for each individual. Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and the maintenance of normal bones. We use the patented branded raw material K2VITAL® from the Norwegian company Kappa for vitamin K2 in our vitamin D3 + K2 MK7 drops. This means that our drops contain a particularly high-quality vitamin K2 MK7, which can be absorbed and utilised by the body in the best possible way.
