Origin of green edamame beans

Edamame (pronounced ee·da·maa·me) are green soya beans, picked when still under ripe. They have a light nutty and mildly sweet flavour. The plant is originally from Japan. It takes about 2-3 months before the little green peas are harvested. Edamame roughly translates to "bean on the stalk" and they are also called "lucky beans". Our organic edamame beans are processed 6 hours after being harvested at the latest, meaning they are extremely fresh. We simply add water and Italian sea salt, foregoing any additives or artificial aromas. The problem with many canned food producers is that rehydrated vegetables are used in detriment of fresh product. Dried peas, beans and the like are soaked in water. We don't need to do that, since our edamame are grown in Italy and directly processed on site. You get a tin of pure freshness!

Note: The liquid contained in the can may be thick to jelly-like. No need to worry, this is typical for soya beans and happens naturally. Small white spots are also absolutely normal, as these are starch grains contained in the beans. Therefore, please wash your edamame beans thoroughly before further processing.

Are edamame healthy?

Healthy is above all a balanced, wholesome diet. With 5.2 g of fiber per 100 g, the small beans are a source of fiber that refine your dishes with a nutty-mild note.

Edamame? What is it anyway?

Edamame are green soybeans that are harvested unripe. They originate from Japan. The plant grows about one meter high. It takes about 2-3 months to harvest the small peas. Did you know that edamame literally means "bean on the branch"?

Can I eat edamame beans during pregnancy?

As long as you enjoy edamame in moderation, we see no problem in eating it during pregnancy. However, it is best to talk to your doctor to be absolutely sure.

What is special about canned green soybeans?

Without peeling, you can snack the delicious beans directly pre-cooked from the can and refine various dishes with it. Our organic edamame beans are processed fresh a maximum of six hours after harvest. We only add water and Italian sea salt and do not use any other additives or flavors. The problem with many canned food manufacturers is that they do not use fresh material and therefore resort to rehydrated vegetables. That is, peas and co. are soaked in water again. With us, this is not necessary, because our Edamame beans are grown in Italy and processed directly there. Pure fresh enjoyment straight from the can!

Why is the liquid in the can thick?

The contained liquid in the can can be thick to jelly-like, which is not a cause for concern. It is typical for soybeans and happens naturally. Even if you discover small white spots, we can give the all-clear, because these are only starch grains of the beans. Therefore, please wash your edamame beans thoroughly.
